This Saturday, the Island School Council for the Arts Rising Stars youth performing arts talent competition brings to the stage the brightest young performers in southern Beaufort County. Budding actors, dancers, musicians, and singers will take the spotlight in the final round of the competition in the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina's Elizabeth Wallace Theater, Saturday, March 12, 2014 at 2:00pm.
The esteemed panel of judges for the third annual ISCA Rising Stars youth performing arts talent competition, represent the major arts organizations from our area. They have all come together in support of these aspiring young performers to lend their expertise and award scholarships to summer arts camps and intensives.
Last year the Broadway Dreams Foundation awarded the 2014 ISCA Rising Star to Watch, Ellie Lentz a scholarship to attend their NY Intensive. This intensive training allowed her to grow as a performer and experience first hand several New York auditions. Our 2015 ISCA Rising Star to Watch, Harrison Leahy attended the BDF NY Intensive along with Ellie and booked the International Tour of Beauty and the Beast. Since its inception in 2014, the ISCA Rising Stars Program continues to expand the performing opportunities for these students in our community and beyond as they gain national and international attention.
Harrison Luba, 2015 Junior Division 1st Place winner and the duo of Kendall and Kearston Gonzales, 2015 Junior Division 2nd Place winners were selected to perform in the Piccolo Spoleto Rising Stars Concert in Charleston.
"We look forward to welcoming residents and visitors to come and cheer on the top 25 youth performing acts in southern Beaufort County on Saturday, March 12th," stated Patti Maurer, Executive Director of the Island School Council for the Arts. " The ISCA Rising Stars program is our opportunity to promote and support the dreams of young performing artists with over $2000 in prize money, scholarships, master classes, and performing opportunities."
"Saturday's event will also showcase the 3rd-12th grade visual artists with the Promising Picassos Exhibition on display in the Bank of America Community Room before the show. Our audience will be in for a real treat based on the wealth of talent that we have in our greater community. We hope people will come out to support the kids and have a wonderful afternoon of entertainment at the same time!"
